This fire appliance from the NOFD looks like it's in well maintained condition! The photograph was very well done! Is there anyway someone can post a photo of the NOFD's Engine Company 29 from the French Quarter or tell me how I can obtain a photo of that famous company?

Calling all toaster enthusiasts! Yes, guys, we in the US are on our way there too. Why? Because, like everyone else, we just have to pile more and more different new kit onto and into our pumpers these days. So the mantra becomes "maximize the cube" and what do you get - you get a fire truck which looks like the box it came in.

We are not alone. Take a look at the newest boxy Japanese pumpers with their roller shutters hiding all the interesting stuff. Why, they are even installing water tanks in some of them these days!

So we will all end up with vehicles that look a lot alike. But at least most of our trucks are still painted (and mostly painted RED) - and not made of flattened-out recycled aluminium dustbins.
