Bedford TKEL PNJ 338R

Here is a lovely old Bedford TKEL HCB Angus water tender ladder/water tender of 1977 taken around the late 80's at Newhaven. It only ever served at this station and went into the reserve fleet in 1990 disposed of in 93.It is from a batch of 5 delivered in 77 being,
BNJ 337R WrL TK 1260 Eastbourne and Crowborough.
BNJ 338R WtL TKEL Newhaven.
PUF 418R WtL TKEL Hastings and Bexhill.
PUF 419R WtL TKEL The Ridge and Rye.
RAP 178R WtL TKEL Battle,Seaford and Broad Oak.
All were bodied by HCB Angus.
This pump has now turned up for auction on ebay and would be well worth saving as there are very few ex-East Sussex pumps in preservation,so Mr Hemsley if you are looking for another project take a look it may just float you boat.

Shaun, - A great photo. I do have a shot of PUF418R at Hastings. PNJ now seems to have disappeared from Ebay - lets hope it's been sold for preservation. MPM795F went to a very good home, and having seen her recently know she will make a great addition to the ESFB preserved fleet!

There's one of these ESFB TK's on the A59 between Snake Pass and Sheffield. It's got orange lights.

It is now back on ebay being removed as it listed the blue lights were still fitted.I also have pics of all the listed pumps above.I know PUF 418R was sold to the same guy's who also bought PUF 419R which went abroad via a charity and I think 418R was used in a TV programe about the great storm of 87 and may have had a tree dropped onto it, I am sure some one will help with this but the were abouts of 337R and 178R are no clearer, I guess they may have been cut up but who knows?

RAP178R is taxed until 2011 according to the DVLA.

I have purchased this Bedford to add to my collection of TKs and will be putting it into storage in the Chichester area whilst I assess what needs to be done to get it MoT'd. I grew up in Newhaven and walked past the station many times, never thinking one day I would own this. I will be aiming to take it to a few shows next year and will be happy to receive tips and advice.

Good man, what else have you got tucked away down there in Chichester?

Added by Shaun R. on 27 August 2010.
Nothing else Fire related.
