Nice appliance, orignally stationed at Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex Fire Brigade 1948-1975 this A.T.V was the only appliance within the County that operated as a Foam Carrier Unit, for fighting aircraft fires and also the Oil Storage Tanks at Shoreham Docks. The appliance in its early life operated with a Dennis Trailer pump but this was dis-continued in the late fifties where it then responded to incidents with a pump or WrE as back up. GLC 891 was inherited by the W.S.F.B in 1948 at the former Southwick Fire Station in N.F.S Grey Livery but was soon repainted to fire engine red with the West Sussex Badges on the rear panels. The Foam Adaptors (Six) were carried across the roof at the rear, the Foam containers filled the complete rear crew space and access being gained via a canvas curtain the original bell lived with the vehicle till it was withdraw from service (Never was fitted with Blues or Twos) on being withdraw it was sold to private ownership in the Shoreham area. It was in operation also during the blitz in London (N.F.S) standard A.T.V. This immaculate vehicle was replaced at Shoreham by a special built Dennis F.8 Pump (UPX 174). I have owned this vehicle since 1996. Has undergone full restoration, and includes coventry climax trailer pump with all hoses, branches, tools, and fittings. The colour was taken from paint samples found at the time of restoration and matched by paint specailists.Thankyou to Wayne Davies for such a complimentry photo. Unfortunatly due to other commitments i am having to sell if anyone would like to carry this piece of history forward please contact me for further details.
