Ford F750 Platform Monitor Qld Fire Service

The is QFS unit 510, the very first platform monitor commissioned by Qld Fire service in 1973. It was built by Superior Industries, better known for their ambulances, and was stationed at Redcliffe. This picture was taken in 2002 at a coal mine near Amberley were it awaited the final humiliation of being cut up for scrap. A very important parts of QFS history is now gone. Yes, I tried to save it but to no avail.

Frank V/D Weerden sent me a classic photo of this actual appliance when
it was in service with the Redcliff Fire Service many years ago.

sent me a few years ago when you were in Queensland. Thanks, Pete Matten.

Sorry but the fact is that the first of these hydraulic platforms in Queensland went to Mackay in 1972.
