1981 Bedford KG/CFE Water Tender Ladder.
This appliance was new to Hove Fire Station and is beleaved to be a "one off "in the East Sussex Fire Brigade.Delivered in 1981,this Bedford KG/CFE WrL first saw service at Hove fire station,and then saw service at Crowborough.The photograph was taken around 1985 at a Dutch Barn fire in Shoreham-by-Sea (West Sussex) involving both appliances from Hove,(East Sussex),and from West Sussex-2 appliances and Landrover from Shoreham,2 appliances from Lancing,and 2 appliances from Worthing.A brigade Control Unit and Littlehamptons Water Carrier also attended this make-pumps-8 incident.

Dave, I dont know whether this actual appliance ever went into preservation.
I've not seen it which is a shame, because I beleave it was a"one-off".

Hi, the one in the zoo was Barcombes Bedford TKG HCB Angus HSC Reg No C443 OAP and I think it is still there.

ref c443 oap bedford tkg in the zoo, i have c446 oap and have restored it, near wigan. found it in a farm in whitby.

This Bedford KG/CFE is indeed a one of for East sussex.It was first a water tender at Hove becoming a water tender ladder at Crowborough then ending is front line service at Bexhill.It then became a spare going out of service in 1996.It was given to a fire service charity to be sent abroad but never got exported and the last I heard it was in a field ether in Shropshire or Staff's, hope this helps.

It was indeed a one off appliance for East Sussex but several appliances of this style saw service with the somerset fire brigade. Bodywork by the then Cheshire Fire Engineering (CFE) then Saxon of sandbach Cheshire. Both companies have since ceased trading.
