Would they not of been better off converting this into the OSU instead of an old pump?

That was the one of the original plans, to have a duel purpose vehicle I believe, but there was issues with VOSA, the vehicle would have to unloaded every time it was used for tests. The requirement for tests now require the vehicle to have a splitter gear box now so it was essential to obtain a suitable vehicle.

I was the Driving Instructor when this became operational used for LGV training and tests its main task was LGV training but alas they used it for other duties had camera, s in cab
