Hi Barrie, is this vehicle preserved in Cheshire? It was a regular at rallies in and around Suffolk for a number of years but I haven't seen it since 2004. Thanks, Chris.

Hi Chris, No Not Cheshire, I was talking to the owner whom I believe lives in the Midlands, he is an ERF enthusiast and used his 'rig' to bring the trailer which was also equipped with a living accomodation pod to the show which was partially ERF based. When he realised that there was several fire appliances exibited he promised to bring the ATV next year and show it in its own right,

I bought this in 1980 as a wreck and did the first restoration and won 3rd prize at Duxford Rally in 1981. I would like to contact the present owner as I have early pictures of it and could have chat about it.

Does anybody know where this was based, whilst it was serving as a hosereel tender?

Thanks

GLE 441 was based at Padstow, and Cornwall later converted it into a BA Van.

I saw a picture in a Cornwall Fire Service history book of a trailer pump with the same reg no at Redruth.

I am sure you are correct with this author as it is many years since I had it. I did try to obtain the history in 1980 but Cornwall Fire Brigade replied that all records had been destroyed. I have a copy of the original registration book where the first licence stamp was 23-12.1941 London the next 1-4-1948 for Cornwall and the last was 1963. Sorry I can't help further.
