The green strobe that can be seen on the front dash is to inform firefighters when they are receiving another call/radio comm's whilst at an incident already. Another strobe is placed on the rear of the appliance.

This pump is based at Larkfield fire station (S65) and is manned by a Day crew system, they also have a P-Reg Sabre which is manned by retained firefighters

This appliance has just been replaced with a bran new Scania. We though it would now become the retained pump at Larkfield but that's not the case. Its current location is unknown.

This pump is now the retained pump at Borough Green (S67), so it still spends most of its life at Larkfield on Stand by.

Most of it's time at Larkfield is not the case it hardly ever goes on stand-by as it is a busy station on it's own.

This may be a stupid question to you, but why would crews need to be told of another call whilst at an incident?

Added by David Jones on 30 September 2010.
The old system was used to inform crews that they had recived another call this could be if they were out and about or at a Community safety event not actually working at another job.

I think the green strobe is for when the appliance receives a fire call/shout when they are off station or away from the appliance - on a hydrant walk for example.

Ok thanks. It's just the first comment said it was for when at an incident.

Also could be for when radio message being sent whilst driver is at the rear operating the pump. Can be tad noisy when pump is running and difficult to hear radio message despite speakers!
