This is an extremely interesting shot ! FIC 322 was a Bedford/Pyrene WrT that was with County Carlow. The appliance subject of this picture was an AEC Marquis VII/Merrweather PE that was at the Fire Service College, Moreton-in-the Marsh (ULR 69F), and was subnsequently converted into a Recovery Vehicle. The question is, how did it come by this registration which was certainly on a Carlow Bedford, a photograph of which - though not my copyright - is in my collection ?

The crane set on this appliance was previously on an AFS Thornycroft recovery vehicle, VGN 358, that was also at Fire Service College. I guess that the PE had a mishap and was re-built as a RC.
