Out of interest; is there much difficulty in driving the older retired engines on British roads ? I would presume they have to be registered, insured and pass the MoT vehicle inspection? Is there a special classification for antique vehicles?

Phil, could that ERF/HCB Angus Pump Escape be RHN 999L?, do you know whether that appliance was ever preserved?.I came up to the Duxford Fire Show a couple of times, last being in 1991, what a brilliant show that was, its well remembered.
Yes that was Durham ERF, I let to beleive it went to a father and son in North of england. It is Preserved and last i heard was having gearbox problems.
