Fire Engines Photos

This vehicle is a Breathing Apparatus Control Van. The LFB had these vehicles in the 1960s through to the 1970s. They were allocated 1 per division with a couple of spares. They attended all fires of 4 or 6 pumps in the role of what is now called a Forward Command Unit. For 8 pumps or more the Brigade Control Unit would respond. I'm pretty sure I was the driver of this vehicle in the very early 70s when it was a spare 'on the run' at Clapham, which was the B Div HQ in those days.

The van started it life at H21 Bromley in 1965 as a BACV. If any one has a photo of it during its time with the LFB I would be pleased to have a copy.

Sadly I have no pictures of it 'in service' Roger, but as I work as a volunteer at the LFB museum I will have a look in the files and see if I can find anything there.

It is now owned by a different Roger of Stalybridge. Greater Manchester, hopefully it will be taking part in the Trans Pennine run in August 2016.
