1930 Ahrens Fox'Quad' River Forrest F.D.Illinois

1930 Ahrens Fox'Quad' of the River Forrest F.D.Illinois(Note again-right hand drive?).Firemen concidered the Ahrens Fox fire engine to be the best of all American fire fighting vehicles. This 1930 Ahrens Fox was specially designed and was very distinctive-Ahrens Fox called it the'Quad'because of its four outstanding fire fighting features:It had a 1000 gallon per minute pump;an on board 100 gallon water storage tank with a small diameter booster hose for quick attack;over 200 linear feet of ladders;and over 1000 feet of large diameter hose. The enormous fire-fighting potential was powered by a 1160cu.in.six cylinder engine. The vehicle was capable of speed in excess of 50 miles per hour.

The Hall of Flame Fire Museum located in Phoenix,Arizona has almost an acre of fire history exhibits, with over 90 fully restored fire fighting pieces of apparatus on display dating from as far back as 1725 up to 1969.Its well worth a visit.
