Very sad end to this appliance

North Yorkshire Vovlo water ladder, cab area completely burnt out. Parked at the rear of Brigade training centre, the vehicle was only discovered when staff turned up for work in the morning, it had almost burnt its self out. The Mercedes along side was damaged too.The overhead canopy was also damaged. The cause is still under investigation.

do they not have security cameras at Easingwold?

Anyone know the reg of the Volvo and the probable cause?

how ironic - a fire engine on fire!

The reg number of the Volvo is R227 OHN. 1998 Volvo water ladder with Emergency One (Scotland) bodywork. Went to Scarborough fire station on the East Coast from new, stayed there until 2003, passing to EFAD training. Replaced at Scarborough by Volvo rescue pump NU52 RHA which is now used for EFAD training presently at the Training Centre. The Training Centre is covered by security cameras, and possible cause at this time is electrical.

Its probably time to check those cameras are working then or, wake the operator up! how come the fire service wasn't called when it was well alight?

This training centre is located on the edge of the small market town of Easingwold on an industrial estate. The way the vehicles are parked in the photo is towards open farm land and some large farm buildings, at the rear of the centre and some considerable distance from any houses, as to not cause any inconvenience to local residents.

Surely all the more reason to have working security cameras at the rear of the establishment then.

If it was electrical I wonder if it's connected in any way to the small compressor under rear seat?. I know we've had problems with the compressor staying on and overheating in our scanny.

Hi Stevie. The cause has been kept under wraps. But an electrical fault still the most likely, no more info other than that. The Merc next to the burnt out appliance has been to the body shop and returned to the Brigade, and awaiting to go back to the training centre.
