The Mercedes FPT (Fourgon Pompe Tonne) has been introduced in the last couple of years, as I understand it to replace the BSPP's previous major pumping appliance, the FA (Fourgon d'Appui), various generations of which were delivered on Renault (and a few Iveco) chassis from the 1980s onwards. I'm not sure how many have been of the new Mercedes have been delivered as yet (although it's obviously at least 15, from the registration above).
Does anyone know whether the smaller pumping appliance, the FM (Fourgon Mixte), on an Iveco chassis, which as far as I know is used exclusively in central Paris, is also being replaced by the new Mercedes FPT?
Mark, no idea how many Mercedes they have now, I saw only a couple of them. But I visited only 6 stations. This station is Grenelle which is in arrondissement 15. Pete no idea too if those FM's are replaced. Re the numbering system I wish it was that easy as you think it is, but I can't find any record that the registration numbers (fleet numbers) are in sequence.
FM are not being replaced yet, I have seen a few last month on a big electrical fire near Rivoli street. I think 16 Mercedes FPT (Fourgon Pompe Tonne)have been introduced.
BSPP have purchased around 15 FPT, all Mercedes Ategos 1325 with Desautel bodywork and Ziegler pumps. A speciality is FPT 1 which is a Mk. I Atego whereas FPT 2 - 15 are Mk. II Ategos. The stations are: FPT 1: Aulnay sous Bois FPT 2: Puteaux FPT 3: Clichy sous Bois FPT 4: Rungis FPT 5: Masséna FPT 6: Chaligny FPT 7: Gennevilliers FPT 8: Montreuil sous Bois FPT 9: Boulogne FPT 10: Ménilmontant FTP 11: Plessis-Clamart FPT 12: Saint Denis FPT 13: Créteil FPT 14: Champerret FPT 15: Grenelle
Furthermore BSPP have purchased more than a dozend turntable ladders (Echelle Pivotante Automatique, EPA) on Mk. II Atego 1325 with Riffaud ladders. AFAIK these are at least EPA 101 - 120: EPA 101: Parmentier EPA 102: Blanche EPA 103: EPA 104: Château d'Eau EPA 105: EPA 106: EPA 107: Colombier EPA 108: Château Landon EPA 109: Rousseau EPA 110: EPA 111: Malar EPA 112: Saint Honoré EPA 113: Nativité EPA 114: Bitche EPA 115: EPA 116: Champigny sur Marne EPA 117: EPA 118: Dauphine EPA 119: Villejuif EPA 120:
Furthermore EPAN 10 and 11 (Echelle Pivotante Automatique avev Nacelle - Turntable ladder with basket) are also Mk. II Atego 1325 with Riffauf ladder.

thanks, mark.
