God yes i remember seeing this at York a few times, i think it was called Tango 1 control unit.

When you saw this on a blue light run, you always knew it was a big job and no matter what, it's still far better than the Volvo mobile library look a like that does the job today.

The good old days when Bedford ruled North Yorkshire and hardly any of the appliances broke down, looked right, sounded right, unlike the modern appliances, toaster on wheels with limited reliability!

John I can see you are a passionate Bedford fire engine advocate! I remember these vehicles also could carrying a canteen unit, one of the lads at York forgot to something important shall I say and lost it of the back of the vehicle in micklegate, very embarassing for the guy! But hey ho, like I say -If you havent made a cock-up as an operational fireman you must have been hiding in a cupboard all your career!
I have mentioned the Coventry yellow Ford that york had in the seventies? Have you seen any pics of that vehicle, I would love to see it again.
