East Sussex 1969 Landrover L4P
This was one of two Landrover L4Ps which saw service with the East Sussex Fire Brigade and was located at the counties headquarters in Lewes.The other L4P was located at Preston Circus fire station in the heart of Brighton.This appliance was later moved to Crowborough Fire Station where it completed its service with the East Sussex brigade before going into preservation and was photographed still in preservation at the Mayfield Fire Engine Rally in 2002.

The above is not quite right....The vehicle is indeed a 1969 vehicle but registered in 1970, and was indeed an L4P - new to Uckfield, later Crowborough. It suffered pump damage in the 1980s and a smaller hose reel pump was fitted, it the being redesigned an L4T. Its sister vehicle UPM349H was a light Rescue Tender and was stationed at Haywards Heath. In later life converted to a lighting Unit based at Lewes. The second L4P based at Preston Circus - I'd suggest was the ex Brighton Landrover HUF999F
