Unk year Ward LaFrance, prob. 100gpm/500 tank. This gal served the Eastwood Mall area in the City of B'ham. Ain't no ham like Birmingham! I shot a ton of B&W back in those days because it was cheaper and I could develop my stuff at the lab I worked at while in college.

Wish I had paid a bit more attention in those days - the B & W photos are great detail; and they survive better than some of the Colour shots.

Must be a "typo" above - sure hope the old girl moved more than "100 gpm".....

Perhaps, one of our Devoted Readers has her year and specs.

Ward LaFrance Truck Company folded in 1979. There is a dedicated web-site at:

This was a "budget" Ward with a Cincinnati cab, which was used by a large number of fire engine manufacturers at the time. Most of their products at this time used their own cab, with flat panels and a distinctive angled windshield. My local department, Manhasset-Lakeville on Long Island, operated two of their custom cab pumpers in the early 1980s. Detroit was unique in having several four door Wards, which looked very modern at that time.
