One of the last Heavy Rescue units delivered by American LaFrance, before the firm filed for federal bankruptcy, was to the Ankney, Iowa Fire Department near Des Moines. Ankeny is one of those American towns that is located in the infamous "Tornado Alley."

It is so sad to learn of American LaFrance bankruptcy. The firm has designed and built some of the best and most beautiful of fire engines.
