For some reason this appliance has been withdrawn for service. Can any one explaine why ?

Philip here again, this appliance has been delivered to a place in kilkenny called urlingford. A small town that also has a 2002 volvo and a spare volvo appliance. So really i answered my own question. :)

I believe the dublin brigade now use a Dennis Sabre tunnel response vehicle (very similar to a water tender just with extra lockers) to escort tankers now

The Vehicles have been removed from service in DPT (Dublin Port Tunnel) under health and safety grounds.

The Primary function of the escort vehicles was to create a safe barrier between SIN 1203 Vehicles and members of the public.

Traffic Northbound in DPT would be held at the toll plaza while the Tankers were allowed enter the Tunnel, The Escort Vehicle would then enter the tunnel 200m behind the convoy with the VMS Board displaying DO NOT PASS. This was to enable the escort vehicle to create a barrier between the Public and the convoy incase of an incident.

The Vehicle was in constant communication with both CAMF-DFB control and DPT control rooms.
