where was this old machine based?? if known please let me know

Added by James Taylor on 18 June 2007.
James this ET was based at C27 Clerkenwell from 1970 to 1977 and became a spare ET until 1993. It's fleetnumber was ET12A. It used to be registered as BLO 801H, but got re-registered as FYY 37H somewhere in the eraly 80ties.

what was the purpose of this fire engine

Added by Nahyan on 09 April 2008.
nahyan the purpose of this fire engine was to act as a rescue fire appliance for incidents where people are trapped.such as at building collapses and certain other incidents much like todays fire and rescue units.

If you're interested I was the first driver to take this machine (then BLO 801H) out 'on the bell'. Then drove it on innumerable occasions whilst I was at C27.

Hi Peter,

Any photos of those days please?

Cheers,
Frank

If I am not mistaken was this machine based at Euston? I know they had a permanent allocation of an ET at the time

I used to meet with the LFB as I was an Instructor in the training school for St.John London District in York St W1

Morgan Many thanks if you have any pictures past or present please feel free to post would love to see them. James I remember seeing this on shouts as our HQ is in St.Johns Gate including sadly on several visits to the London Underground on the Bakerloo & Metropolitan Lines because of the specialist lifting kit nuf said

Paul C. - were The London Underground (Subway System) calls for people who wound up, underneath the trains ?

Sadly, 'one-unders' on the London Underground are a relatively common callout for London firefighters...

Added by Yelp Bullhorn on 21 January 2010.
Yes indeed but I was trying to be tactful , have attended one to many "1 Unders" as a NHS Medical Team Member.

Added by Paul Crichton on 21 January 2010.
Paul & Co.; don't envy you those Calls (Runs) - I was 'interpreting' for we Readers here, who wrangle the English Language somewhat differently....

You will find one on this site at picture 21090 where it is photographed by me outside F21 Stratford though it must have been at East Ham at the time as reserve ERT.
