Who built this nice Incident Command Unit vehicle ?

Added by Bomba Boy on 10 January 2008.
I'm not sure, think the maker was bayleys totalfleet.
Hope this helps, regards, John.

Correct, it was indeed Baileys/Totalfleet !

Thanks for that Ian, to me it looks like the mobile library that covers the little villages outside York, except for the blue lights of course!

thanks again, John.

Yes, it does indeed have a mobile look about it - and you'd never guess it was a Volvo !!

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue are presently looking into a replacement for the present Command unit. Its replacement may be a dual purpose vehicle, to cover fire safety at events throughout the County, and also a command unit at incidents.I think its still in the planning and concultation stage.

You can only agree that it does look like a mobile library. One interesting feature of this vehicle is that one of the exterior doors is actually a door to a toilet accessible only from the outside. When discussing this 'feature' a very politically correct firefighter from North Yorkshire gave a lecture on gender equality with the declaration that it was unreasonable to expect any female crew to attend an incident without proper toilet facilities...

This is why the world is going mad.

It's ok for female firefighters to have the use of proper toilet facilities, but what about the fire men ( the majority of fire fighters).

Doesn't sexism work both ways?
