The HVP is usually carried on a pod along with another container which holds 2, 000 meters of 150 mm hose for long distance relaying. The idea of mounting it on a trailer seems rather unusual. The large diameter hoses need to come from another vehicle....

The F350 is also a bit of a rare bird in the Netherlands, although very popular as a brush, first strike or light rescue rig in the USA.

As well as the hydraulic HVP pump, fire services in the Netherlands are now using a compact floating pump. This is carried on pump appliances along with their regular PTO driven 2000 LPM pumps. Although it too is hydraulic, it is however powered by the high pressure hose reel fitted to every front line pumper. This line, operating at 40AT, runs the impeller in the floating pump, which pumps up to 2, 000 LPM at quite low pressure through twinned 20 metre 70mm hoses to the pump inlet- to supply up to four hose lines, as required.

This system is very useful in the Netherlands, where open water sources are usually readily available, and the unit is quite small. It not only does away with the need for suction hoses, but takes up much less space on the pumper.

I do not know if the floating pump generates enough pressure to supply water at any great distance, but it certainly works with the pumper a lot further from the open water source than the traditional 3 to 10 meters of hard suction hose...
