Fire Engines Photos

Nice vehicle. What are the markings above the grill? Seems to be some kind of tartan banner. How often does this vehicle get use? I cant imagine its hugely busy! Thanks

It is a tartan banner above the grill. Its whizzed passed me many times in Inverness, cracking roar from the engine.

Hi Marcel, When I worked for Angloco the firm that built it. I think when this machine was being delivered it was in an Accident going up the mortorway. It got there but had to come back for repair

my dad was part of the team that picked for hifb, the original body was in an accident, which had to be replaced. the rumour is they are scraping it for a new one soon and before it replaced the old appliance. i got the chance to get a lift in it, that was the day before health and safety went bananas.

answer for David stepford- it was used a lot more that you think, i can think of 4 fires it was used from in the months of nov/dec as there where a few big buildings that went up in smoke.

I believe that the EEC have caught up with Scotland and the Firemasters are now called CFO's under the job discription harmonising white paper?

I dont think it has anything to do with the EU Andy, I believe the CFO can use whatever title they seem fit.....eg Greater Manchester Chief is tiled County Fire Officer....some chiefs are calling themselves Chief Executive Officers, Brigade Manager... etc (not sure how they call themselves Brigade Manager when the title Brigade has been dropped apart from London of course)
I think it was the boss of Strathclyde started the change dropping the Firemaster title....the rest followed. A great shame loosing a tradition going back centuries...but that is the way the modern fire service is heading.
