With a city population close to 250,000 this city has one main fire station staffed by full time paid firefighters with a minimum watch of twenty personnel and 18 volunteer fire stations with 430 on call staff. Depending on their location, vehicles, equipment and staffing levels, these fill the roles of either (joint) first responders or backup responders, as well as filling some specialist roles. One volunteer company is housed at the central fire station while the others all have dedicated first response areas.
