It is very common in Germany for small town volunteer fire companies like this in communities with a population around 20,000 to operate a turntable ladder, and equally common for full time firefighters in towns around 80,0OO to 100,000 to have two or sometimes even three. Quite a different attitude to the prevailing thinking in the UK.
