Fire Engines Photos

Based on a standard double cab pickup truck, with the unusual three door cab, which was very common on German light crew cab vehicles for many years. A similar but earlier series VW light pumper was at the London Commercial Vehicle Show in 1968 but I am not sure any were ever sold.

The UK version was built by Pyrene, and had a 350 GPM pump as well as a 100 gallon tank for the hose reel system. Based on its limited size, it was not an approved JCDD offering, and presumably intended for industrial applications. Unlike Britain several European public fire services operated light pumpers along these lines.

Ed: This is the LT, which was a bigger chassis than the Transporter in the other photos, but still a lot smaller than a standard British pumper. The Scottish volunteers had a number of small tenders like this, including several Bedfords and Leylands at different times.
