Although BSPP has acquired a number of 30 metre ladders with cages like this example, the brigade does not seem to have added any 23-12 meter articulated ladders such as those in London, Berlin and numerous other cities these days. They have grown the aerial platform fleet, and this may be the reason, although their numbers are still rather small. The new platforms include taller units too, which were acquired following the Notre Dame cathedral fire after it became clear that the 30/32 metre units in service then were not really all that adequate.

The ladders with an articulated top section are especially useful when it comes to accessing the reverse side of a pitched roof. Because Paris has so many low pitched mansard roofed buildings this may not be such an issue as it is in places like London.
