ADC999K Clevelander Rescue TenderThis is one for Christoper Hall et al. My latest model based on the real machine! See below
My model is a modification of the Matchbox K9 Denver Turntable ladder which was made up and hideous.
I removed one axle and turned the chassis round
Sides are Plastikard.
I only had a baseplate so I had to build a chassis structure in wood and balsa
The black frame at the front was a crane on the original. Used the front mounted winch cable.
Model scale about 1:60?
the inspiration for this is built on the chassis of Teesside's former Dennis F108 ET ADC999K. The machine was an experimental concept in Emergency Tenders and was designed jointly between Teesside Polytechnic and Cleveland Fire Brigade.
Its main feature was the sliding rear end section, designed to provide easy access to more equipment, however, it was prone to stress at the extending section. (My model does not extend).
Not sure where the cab came from. To quote Chris:
Presumably the DVLC must have thought that the modifications weren’t severe enough to warrant a new registration (after all, it's only a rebody).
The concept was applied to a new build (and equally unsuccessful) ET (H49KVN) which went to Hartlepool at Stranton. This didn't last very long before it was rebuilt into a rather more conventional (and rather boxy looking) CU/ET.

and a later version of the expanding body is here
