Good to see a couple of Land Rovers leading the charge!

Always a bit different to see the Paris firefighters on their July 14 parade with automatic assault rifles on display. A not too subtle reminder that the BSPP is in fact a brigade of the French army, formed by royal decree early in the 18OOs after a disastrous Paris theatre fire which resulted in numerous fatalities. Marseilles, which is a large and historically militarily important port city, also has a military brigade, this being a battalion of marines and part of the French navy. This battalion too has been in existence for many years.

Other military fire brigades are to be found in Lisbon Portugal and several South American countries, some of which are military police organizations. There may be others too further afield but I am not personally aware of any.
