This series of MAN conventional trucks were never the most popular in Germany in the sixties but they were the standard chassis for the (then) West Berlin Fire service. This was the DIN specification water tender in its day, with a 1600 LPM pump and a 2400 litre water tank. It was usually the first due among the responding units to structure fires, along with the command van, the 30 metre TTL and the second pumper, which had a nine man crew but a smaller 800 litre tank.

Yes exactly - maybe Berlin was always keen on this model!

For many years MAN was the standard chassis in West Berlin for all types of fire trucks. After a brief flirtation with Mercedes, the brigade returned to MAN and it still dominates the fleet.
