Although German fire services still overwhelmingly prefer ladders, especially those with a cage and an articulated top section, aerial platforms like this are showing up in increasing numbers. This is particularly true in big cities, where longer 37, 42 and 45 metre examples like the one in this photo are appearing. One principal rationale behind these acquisitions Is their longer horizontal reach, which can be especially valuable in many industrial fire situations. The inclusion of a very high capacity built in pump on this example tends to underline this role.
