Its an UMM Alter. They look wierd don't they? I think they are made in Portugal.

this jeep is a UMM, finished the production in 1994/95.
there is a factory in Portugal that made fire engines with this kind of cars and another ones.

yes, UMM was a 4x4 car manufacturer from Portugal, closed by now. these cars were made with Peugeot engines and other mechanical parts, with an own chassis, i think. having had one, i can say that, although not equal to modern 4x4 vehicles like Land Rovers, they perform pretty well and are though and liable cars. just to add, in this particular role (fire apparatus), this 4x4 is used to perform personal and general equipment transportation. If equipped with the right stuff, such as radios and so, this kind of cars can, and are, also used as operational command vehicles in portugal.

Joao, I think UMM made Landrovers under licence in the 70s and there were some Landrover pumps made as well, though I haven't seen any pictures.

john, i've never heard about that, thanks for the info. as of landrovers pumps, the defender model is still the most widely used light pumper in portugal, and we can see them in most fire departments in my country.
