38KFC Commer Miles PSF Works FB
my latest model completion. Based on Dinky 555 (955) with the roof cut off. This is based on a real appliance that served at the Cowley works of British Leyland. Pressed Steel Fisher made body panels for them I assume and was a sub division of BL by this time, hence the Leyland logo on the side.
Being a factory machine I assume it did not need a roof as it was rarely outside. The real machine was preserved near Ripon Yorks about 10-15 years ago but I do not know whether this unique machine survives now. It had appeared at the Preston Park fire engine rallies before that.

I am not clear if it was ever restored. Does anybody know?
The original chassis was a Commer C7 Mk 4, probably petrol, 6 cylinder.
I have taken a slight liberty by using Dinky 555 which is a different Commer model (QX?), with Carmichael bodywork which I have modified with Plastikard infills.
Notice 38KFC has running boards which I have added in balsa as I assume the crew hung on to the outside in Braidwood body fashion.

The real fire engine which Dinky used for the 555 model was supplied to York City and served later at the Rowntree factory brigade. It is to be seen in a couple of photos on this site. The Dinky Beford TL was based on a Kent ladder, also to be seen here.

Both were Bedford Magirus, but the Kent ones had no pump, while the Bootle one did. The model had no pump,
