Dry powder was a very popular medium in Germany in the sixties and seventies, more often carried on pump water tenders (TroLFT) - but occasionally installed on dedicated tenders like this example. It largely disappeared in later years, probably because it was rarely used, and was often relegated to a light trailer rather than being installed on water tenders or dedicated units like this. I imagine this may be why this van ceased to be a powder tender in 1986 and was operated as a general utility van afterwards.
