Some of these had a front or rear mounted built in pump, while others towed a trailer pump, which was usually a PP which could be removed from the trailer if necessary. These towing units without pumps had larger rear lockers, but - as these all had a nine seat cab - there was still no room for much equipment, not to mention a water tank.

Perhaps I should add that for many years it has been common practice in Germany to carry two 45 or 52 mm hose reels with a total of 90 metres of hose on every trailer pump, in addition to suction hoses. This reduces the hose load which needs to be accommodated in the towing vehicle, and in the 1930s and 1940s these almost always had eight or nine seats. This left very little room for additional hoses.
