1. Translation of that portuguese text: 'rescue pumper with tank, in use for firefighting and rescue occurrencies. Military fire brigade of santa catarina, brazil'.
2. My comments.
in brazil, all public fire brigades are part of the ministry of defence. Comparable with the organisation in several european cities, such as paris (there part of the french army), marseille (there the french navy) and lisboa/lisbon (portuguese army).
the ford pictured above is car number 25 of the santa catarina fire brigade. Santa catarina is a federal state in southern brazil. With an area of 95, 000 km2 and 6, 000, 000 inhabitants (2006 est). Capital is florianpolis, with 350, 000 inhabitants (2000 est).
a brazilian abtr is comparable with the german htlf-type.
by the way, see also the website of the santa catarina fb: Chose there 'museu virtual' / 'galeria' / 'galeria de fotos'. Both 'galeria 2006' and 'galeria 2007' are interesting.

The photo remains the same . . .
Sorry, above I wanted to write (and should have written): "In Brazil, all major public fire brigades are part of the Ministry of Defence". (In smaller towns and on the countryside there are also voluntary fire brigades)
