MAN units like this are quite popular in France, alongside Renault and Mercedes Unimog examples with similar specifications. Brush fire trucks actually outnumber structural fire pumps across France, with over 4, 000 of each type in front line service. This one has a 4,000 litre tank, which is probably the most common size, but there are also more compact units with 1000, 2000 or 3000 litre tanks, as well as more recently developed 6,000 litre tankers and a few 6X6 examples carrying 7000. Unlike German brush pumpers, these French units usually have a four seat crew cab, although the smaller ones have a standard two seat cab.
