Morita Ladder.

Chicago had two of these 137 foot Morita ladders in the late seventies too, on Hendrickson low profile chassis. They replaced a pair of much earlier Magirus 150 foot ones on Mack chassis. When they were pensioned off, CFD decided they really had no need for anything over 100 feet. The idea of even trying to fight high rise fires from the outside had become redundant as internal fire fighting and containment regulations were progressively strengthened over the years.

Interesting that we now seem to be going backwards in some countries, with giant aerials coming back into fashion.

One exception is the need for these in ancient, unprotected structures, perhaps exemplified by the Notre Dame fire, where units with more reach than the BSPP 32 meter platforms might have been useful.
