CCF tenders are very widespread in France, with over 4,000 in use. Different sizes on various 4X4 chassis have tank capacities from 1,000 to 6,000 litres and pumps from 1,000 to 2,500 LPM. There are also a few 6X6 versions with a 7,000 litre tank. The most common chassis are MAN, Mercedes Unimog and of course Renault. Most often they have a four door crew cab for four to seven riders, but single cab versions with two or three seats are also commonplace. These are usually backed up by large Borrowing single cab tankers on 6X6 or 8X4 chassis by MAN, Mercedes, Renault or occasionally Scania. These tandem units have a tank between 10, 000 and 12,000, while the four axle versions have 13,000. Recently some German fire services have started buying French designed brush trucks very similar to the example pictured here, as they rush to improve their wildland fire protection as a result of global warming impacting their forest fire frequencies and severity.
