Rather unusual to see a Dodge from this series in fire service use in France. The ex US army Dodge power wagons from WWII were quite often used by French fire services with varying levels of modification, but the later civilian versions like this are quite rare.
Yes exactly! The only answer I would have is that this rig might have been purchased from the US or Canadian Air force as they were stationed in neighboring Germany at that time!
In the seventies PAC in Israel had a factory building these, mainly for the IDF. Although they were pretty capable off road they were nowhere near as rugged as the WWII ones, which really were designed for military use. I saw quite a few of these old ex military ones - both 4X4 and 6X6 - in service with departmental fire services when I was in France in the sixties. I believe they were also to be found in Belgium and the Netherlands doing duty as fire trucks too.
