Standard factory crew cab, used by all of the “club of four” in those days, which included DAF, Magirus, Renault and Volvo. This one had six seats, and a longer version offered room for nine. In addition, this example has a very large roof compartment, often nicknamed a “coffin”, which became popular in the seventies to accommodate additional equipment, mainly items which were bulky but not too heavy, and which were perhaps not used all that often.

In France this was a period when some brigades were beginning to make wider use of 110mm LDH for connection to high volume hydrants and/or for relaying water between pumpers, and this was often carried flaked out in preconnected lengths in a roof coffin like this.
