In the past these civil defense pumpers were liveried in the same treatment as the locally procured trucks bought by the volunteer fire companies which operated them. Unlike the old British AFS green goddesses, these are intended to be deployed on a daily basis by volunteers, alongside their other trucks, and the reason to switch to the blue triangle identification badges is not all that obvious.

As shown here, the unit still has the Berlin station identification placard too.

The civil defense specifications do vary a bit from the standard municipal fire pump. They are not equipped with rescue gear like a rescue pumper, and the firefighting equipment is more focused on water supply, including a larger hose load and a portable pump as standard.
