Fire Engines Photos

Rather uncommon even in the USA, green fire trucks are very rare in most other countries. The only one I have seen outside the US was in Chile, except of course for the famous AFS "Green Goddess" emergency units which were issued by the UK government in the early 1950s. Although painted green, they were nowhere near as elegant as this magnificent Peterbilt.

Even if the green painted bodywork does not exactly shout “ fire engine”, it seems likely that this impressive array of multicolored warning lights will do the job! Although American fire departments and other emergency services such as EMS providers and law enforcement agencies seem to have an amazing variety of vehicle color schemes and stripes or chevrons, as well as assorted kinds of lettering and badges, they do all have a load of warning lights - so this lack of commonality is not a problem.

When numerous emergency units congregate at an incident after dark, however, the net effect of all these different colored strobe and flashing lights can be very confusing!
