With 77 operational and over 4O reserve volunteers, this town of 11, 000 has three pumpers, a turntable ladder, a heavy rescue truck, a logistics tender, a command van, a chief’s car and this multi purpose kombi. Like most other German volunteer fire companies, the MTW is used to bring personnel to an incident who arrive at the fire station after the firefighting and/or rescue units have already turned out. It is also used for general non- emergency staff transportation. Generally, these are fitted with up to nine seats. In addition to Mercedes, examples commonly include VW, Ford, Opel or Fiat brands.
