Looks like a very handy and maneuverable little ladder truck. Much easier to operate in older, narrow and constricted parts of typical French built up communities than some of the more common larger 30 metre ones. 18 metre turntables were once quite popular in many small towns in Germany with similar ancient street layouts, but these seem to be a bit rare now. One reason may be because the conversion of many narrower streets to pedestrian use has eliminated parked vehicles, so that now full-size ladders can be deployed more easily when necessary.
