RUM registration certainly appropriate for this decidedly odd design! I can’t help wondering why the brigade specified this? What advantages did it offer? Among other things, where was the hose reel first aid water tank and what capacity did it have? As much as the 200 or 300 gallons on the standard design, or 350 for the Derbyshire version? And were there seats in the back of the cab, or did the crew have to sit on those very uninviting boxes in the back? To my mind, this did nothing to improve on the standard F8 design layout. What am I missing?

Odd design maybe, but I think they’re stylish. I remember these from being a youngster, frequently dashing around my area of Leeds, sirens wailing. I have the 1/18 scale model which is remarkably accurate, except the Francis siren is too small and placed too far back. And no blue beacon, although I think these were fitted by the brigade’s workshops later on.
