Did this very comprehensive update include a PTO operated pump, or was it still a type A with only a portable pump?

Ed: converted to Type B water tender I believe

picture 43981 may help with your question Rob. It shows a very similar appliance which may have had the same conversion.

Thanks Chris. If it had a built in pump it is long gone! BUT pumps were often recycled, especially when it came to re-using them to convert type As to Bs. This happened to both early postwar water tenders in my home town Darlington. The Commer Whitson NHN 999 got a Gwynn’s 700 gpm pump from a prewar Leyland, while the Commer Carmichael RHN 999 got a 500 gpm Dennis pump, which had come from an NFS trailer.
