Some brigades replaced the original orange flashers above the windscreen with blue lights like this example when blue became the standard in 1960, as well as (or instead of) adding one or more blue beacons.

Cheers, I remember it well. I've got the same photograph with a bit more forecourt. Then it was replaced by a converted 1981 W reg Dodge WTL with the bodywork constructed in the workshops.

That's a converted Communications Unit (Stores and Service Van) body, not a Control Unit body. Would originally have carried spare parts, cable and would have had facilitates for the maintenance of radio equipment. Also carried portable generators for the charging of radio batteries on vehicles equipped with radio equipment.
