At one timeI I owned a Rover SD1 3500 like this, with the beefy V8 engine, and I remember it was rather quick and handled very well. Although I never loaded it up all that much, I always thought the hatchback design was a brilliant idea. When I moved to the US I was a bit disappointed to find they were not being sold here…so I settled for an Audi.

In 1977 that was a Reserve based at D23 Hammersmith.

For car buffs, I can confirm that the Rover 3500 eventually started being sold here in 1980 - but it was two years too late for me, and by then I was quite happy with my German ride!
