MAN-Sides FPTSR Rescue-Pump

Although Sides is a very strong brand, famous for its City, Brush fires and airport Tenders, they were not able to compete with Giamex who took a wide share of the market for the Rescue-Pumps in France.

Note the unloaded one man hose carts in the background. These, with a capacity of 200 metres of 65mm hose, are a standard feature of the French rescue pumpers. By carrying the bulk of their 65mm hoses on these carts, this not only gives firefighters a very quick way to lay out long hose runs when needed, but frees up a lot of space in the side lockers for other items - as clearly illustrated in this photo by J-P. Although practice varies by department, the hose carts can also be equipped with a standpipe and hydrant tool, or with a couple of supplementary 38 or 45mm attack lines along with a single or double wye.

The orange hoses in the lockers on this unit are attack lines, including flaked pre-connected hoses with a variable volume control branch, ready to be shouldered for interior attack.
